Good Relations

United through Sport Programme

This programme is targeted at young people between the ages of 14 – 16 years of age on a cross community basis. The programme involves weekly football based coaching sessions and educational workshops on good relations issues such as attitudes and stereotypes; prejudice and discrimination; sectarianism and racism; cultural diversity and

respect. The young people also attend a study visit to Belfast whereby they participate in outdoor pursuit activities and visit Windsor Park Football Stadium to engage in a football for all workshop delivered by the Irish Football Association. The programme also involves a residential to Derry whereby the young people participate in the Foyle Cup and attend daily interactive educational workshops and study visits exploring various good relations issues.

 

Diversity through Sport Programme

This programme is targeted at young people between the ages of 11 and 14 years of age on a cross community basis. The programme involves weekly multi-sport sessions and educational workshops on good relations issues such as attitudes and stereotypes; prejudice and discrimination; sectarianism and racism; cultural diversity and respect. The programme involves a 3-day residential to Belfast whereby the young people participate in various visits and educational workshops that focus on a specific good relations issue. The young people also participate in fun social activities and go to see a professional sport such as Northern Ireland Football match or Belfast Giants Ice Hockey game.
