Community Youth Programmes

Community Youth Champions League

  • Targeted at young people aged between 12 – 14 years of age
  • Local Community Associations / Youth Clubs will enter a team of a maximum of 10 young people
  • Teams will play on just one night per week. This will either be a Friday or Saturday depending on the group you are drawn in at the launch night
  • Activities over a 10 week programmewill include:
    • weekly football matches
    • development and delivery of a community initiative by each team
    • participation in educational workshops on such issues as mental health, drugs and alcohol, crime and Anti Social Behaviour, good relations etc
    • fun skill challenges
    • A scoring system will be in place whereby teams will have the opportunity to gain points in each of the above activities and each team will win a prize depending on where they finish in the community champions league.
    • Prizes will range from the overall winners receiving a full sized replica champions league trophy, day trips to Dublin to watch the Republic of Ireland play at the Aviva Stadium, Formula One Karting activities, Dolce Vita vouchers etc.
    • The scoring system will have equal points for each activity to enable all young people the opportunity to get involved and not just those “good” at football.

Youth Peer Leadership Programme

  • Targeted at young people aged between 15 and 17 years of age
  • Delivery of two 10 week block programmes which will involve:
  • completion of a sports leadership qualification
  • volunteering experience with the respect project
  • development and delivery of a local sporting hero interview
  • 4 day study visit to London
  • Young people recruited through their local community association / Youth Club
  • 18 young people in total will participate in programme
  • Maximum of 2 young people per community association / Youth Club
  • Preference will be given to those groups located in NeighbourhoodRenewal Areas
  • The peer leadership programmewill commence in September
